Description

This proposed 1884 bill clearly targets veterans of the Civil War and Indian Wars. Broadside published by the 48th Congress for the U.S. Senate for a bill introduced by Mr. Voorhees to amend the pension laws for for those who "while in the service of the United States and in the line of duty, shall have lost an arm or a leg, or have been equivalently disabled by gunshot wounds, shall be entitled to fifty dollars per month".... "all persons who have an arm or leg amputated at the shoulder or hip joint, or who cannot use an artificial leg"..."or who have become totally blind"... Approximate dimensions are 11-1/4" X 7-1/2". condition: light soiling, edge bumps, occasional scuffs.
