Gouache, F. Wynn Graham, d1945, Under the Train.Davids notes:This work was previously sold by another auction house as a screenprint, but it is actually a gouache on masonite board.The raised surface of the masonite board was mistaken by the cataloger as a screenprint.

(Source: 1965 interview with the artist) F. Wynn Graham was born in 1903 in Michigan. In her early 30s, she moved to New York where she attended the Arts Student League and studied lithography at the Harlem Art Center. In 1935, she joined the WPA Federal Art Project. She exhibited at the National Serigraph Convention in the 40s and 50s, and exhibited at the MoMA in 1946. She lived in Queens New York, and died in 1973 when she was 70 years old.
