Description
Antique Silver Creamer by P. Garrett Early 19th CStunning coin silver creamer designed by Philip Garrett (1780-1851) post Revolutionary War Era circa 1801-1828. Fine detailing of vines around center, engraved letter "W" on side, marked P. Garrett in both directions on bottom.
Note from consignor states "The cream pitcher is American made during the Revolutionary period. There is one in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Museum that Paul Revere made for John Hancock to keep Hancock from paying taxes on his French and Spanish money, which Paul Revere melted to make Hancock a service. It is therefore called "coin silver". This cream jug is an exact replica of it but was made by a silversmith named Garrett in Philadelphia. It belonged to a Whiteley ancestor."
