Description
Taino. A mantis-man Cemi. This peculiar Cemi appears to be a human transition to a preying mantis. Long wings cover the back while a mantis face with extended hands appears to be grasping the head. The female mantis is known to remove the head her mate and eat him. The tortured look on the victim’s face seems to indicate such an event. Taino never cease to amaze in their capacity to create a visual storyline. Made of serpentine. From the collection of Larry Roberts, author of "Taino Sculpture, Art of the Gods" and "Taino Hallucinogenic Implements, Inhaling the Cosmic Dust." Size: 4'' x 5.5'' x 2.5'' (10 x 14 x 6 cm). Note: There Are No Hidden or Confidential Reserves in this Auction; All Acceptable Bidding Commences at the Online Start Price.
