SCRIMSHAW WHALE'S TOOTH DEPICTING SHIPS OFF FORTS
19th Century
Both sides with similar scene of a two-masted vessel flying an American flag and a pennant from the masts off a fort that is also flying an American flag. Forts with a grid of embrasures, with cannons visible. Unusual stippled depiction of the water, which wraps around the edge of the tooth in a V-shape. Some pinpoint elements on the ships.
