Description
Reading, Pennsylvania, c. 1799, cherry and poplar. Broken-arch pediment, the case with egg-and-dart carving under the cove molding, and with extensive inlay, including vines (from hearts to tulips), all on french feet. Brass movement with sun-moon and ship dial with original paint. 96.75" high. This lot is eligible for pick-up or furniture/freight shipping. If you need assistance with shipping, please contact us.
Condition
Dial retains its original paint. Retains weights, key, and pendulum. Finial may be original but is now attached in a different method (there is a round hold on top of the plinth not currently being used); one gooseneck scroll has been glued, the glass is replaced. The case has been refinished, has some minor surface blemishes, including a piece of the lowermost inlaid banding on the proper-right side of the base, which has popped out and cracked (but is still present), shrinkage gap in the front base panel on the side opposite the faux keyhole. PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE WORKING ORDER OF CLOCKS.
