Circa 1839/40; footed copper lustre pitcher with puce portrait of Harrison with "Tippecanoe and Thames" rivers banners commemorating his military victories and second vignette with log cabin, 8 in. H. The image of the log cabin played a significant part of the Harrison presidential campaign. Called the "Log Cabin and Hard Cider Campaign," this was meant to show Harrison as a common man of the people. When in reality, he was a well educated land owner and an Indian Wars and War of 1812 hero. Harrison died of pneumonia on April 4, 1841, serving as president for only one month.
