Description
1972 Harley-Davidson MC-65 Shortster - VIN: SC17783H2 - Offered Without Reserve - By the early 1970s, Harley-Davidson had controlling interest in Italian manufacturer Aermacchi, which allowed the American company to offer a wide range of motorcycles and motorbikes to meet the Japanese competition. The MC-65 Shortster was a one-year-only model and used the two-stroke single-cylinder 64cc engine already in America with the Leggero. More sophisticated than other minibikes of the day, the Shortster was street legal with a solid backbone style frame, hydraulic suspension, proper lighting including license plate mount, gauges, and a braced handlebar. The Shortster featured a polished stainless-steel front fender, dual seat, upswept exhaust, and big bike grips. It was offered in exciting colors and retailed for just a little over $300 new. This example shows just 1,439 miles, believed to be from new. It is dark blue metallic with vibrant fluorescent red appliques. The tank does show some scratches and nicks and the general overall appearance is one that needs cleaning and detailing. It is riding on the original Pirelli 3.00 x 10 tires and shows no modifications, even retaining its original owner's manual. VIN 5C17783. 56" L x 31" W x 38" H (at the handlebars). Sold on Bill of Sale only.
