Description
A 19th century J. C. Brown "Acorn" model shelf clock. 8-day spring driven double fusee movement with Lyre shaped plates marked "Forestville M F G Co., Bristol, CT, U. S. A." painted metal dial with Roman numerals and coiled gong strike. Mixed wood laminated case and arms with a single shaped door having conforming upper glass and two part lower glass with reverse painted decoration, on a molded base. Old finish has been cleaned and waxed, dial with craquelure and some touchups, case has been reinforced with some added screws and bolts into the fusee bracket, running when cataloged. 24 1/2" high overall.
