2 (Two) American shelf clocks: (1) Elisha Manross, Bristol, Conn., steeple on frame or double steeple, rosewood veneered case, painted metal dial, 8 day, time and strike spring driven fusee strap brass movement, c1850 (2) Brewster & Ingrahams, Bristol, Conn., ripple molding shelf clock, mahogany veneered case, painted metal dial, 8 day, time and strike spring driven brass movement, c1850
Condition
(1) Rosewood veneered case in an old finish has some loss on the base, a small repair at the top right chimney and a couple chips on the top door. One of the finials has some minor tip damage. Original painted dial has scattered loss. Replaced hands. Original tablets. Label inside is dark, but under the right light can be read. This is a rare example of a steeple with a strap brass movement. (2) Mahogany veneered case in an old finish has a small chip on the base. Original painted dial has darkened a little with some loss at the winding arbors and on the raised edge. Minute hand is a replacement. Clean label inside.
