Item Details
Description
A Nayarit Kneeling Female Figure "Chinesco," Lagunillas sub-style, West Mexico, c. 250 BC - 250 AD Hollow earthenware with burnished red and dark brown slips with cream colored details. Her plump body has a wide belt decorated with X's, circles, and dots. Criss-crossed bands across chest. Her hands placed on top of her swollen abdomen, perhaps indicating pregnancy. Her breasts located at her shoulders, with enlarged nipples. Scarification bumps on her shoulders. Heart-shaped facial plane with slit eyes, nose ring, and incised hair. In very good, intact condition, no visible repairs or restorations under blacklight. Minor nick on proper left side of chin. Shoulders with mineral deposits.
