Description
Standard configuration K98 rifle manufactured by Mauser during World War II. Receiver is marked "byf/43" over the chamber, with a Mauser eagle over "135" on the right side. The waffenamt on the top of the receiver has been partially overstamped by an East German shield within a sunburst proof. Matching numbers include the receiver, trigger guard, sear, and stock. Buttplate matches and was likely matched under East German ownership. Bolt, bolt stop, upper handguard, and barrel bands are mismatched. Stock is of late war production, not having a stock takedown disc and instead having a takedown hole cut into the buttplate. Floorplate, rear sling swivel, and cleaning rod are not present. Left side of barrel bears 2 spurious "Death's Head" stamps. Complete with 2 additional laminated stocks, one retaining a cupped buttplate, and the other retaining a flat buttplate and upper handguard. CONDITION: Metal components retain good amounts of their arsenal blue finish, showing areas of wear all around that show through to silvering, as well as some areas of light surface oxidation. Bore is bright and retains good rifling throughout. Stock shows scattered handling marks and wear to the varnish all around. Additional stocks have been sanded and show wear and impressions all around. A unique and interesting Mauser K98 rifle manufactured during history's greatest conflict. -MLW- Accessories: 2 additional stocks Barrel Length: 23 - 1/4" Caliber/Bore: 8mm Mauser FFL Status: Curio & Relic Manufacturer: Mauser Model: K98 Serial Number: 28102
