A rare "Whitehall" Service plate made for the Delaware & Hudson Railroad by Syracuse China. It measures 9". The Syracuse date code is an embossed diamond, so you know it's a pretty early piece. Tis pattern is believed to be the "Service Plate" that would accompany the Plattsburg china pattern. The center logo area is pretty dramatic. It is also very worn. Close ups show the wear to the transfer. McIntyre describes this pattern as coming in worn condition and this example is no exception to that observation. Inner pinstripe (around the food well) is very worn too. It has a very high scarcity rating.
