On later cream painted wood pedestals.

Provenance: Sold Bonhams, The Contents of a Virginian Country House - The Collection of Eric Steiner, Los Angeles, 10 October 2019, Lot 230.

Condition

Busts weather worn and dirty overall. With lichen growth and pittng. General marks, nicks and scratches overall. With significant softening to detail. Losses to carved elements. One with a number of breaks, repairs and subsequent losses to socle. Another with large loss to edge of right shoulder. Same with head broken off at neck and repaired. A third with loss to back of socle. Pedestals with general marks, nicks, scratches, scuffs, dirt accumulation and scattered losses to painted decoration overall. Losses to timber in areas. Would benefit from overall restoration.
