Description
A mid-20th century Anglo-Indian silver three-piece tea service, Bombay circa 1940 Raj period, comprising a teapot, milk jug and a twin handled sugar bowl. Each of compress oval form upon a spreading collet foot, with everted necks and beaded rims. The teapot with a curved spout opposite a painted wooden handle pinned to scroll sockets. The domed hinged lid surmounted by a detachable wooden finial. The bodies with chased decoration in the Lucknow style of Jungle pattern, elephants against trees as well as figures working with oxen and houses, all against a textured ground. Each stamped underneath 9T SILVER. (3) Teapot length – 25 cm / 9.75 inches Weight – 1302 grams / 41.86 ozt
