Description

A late 19th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver three-piece bachelor tea service, Cutch circa 1890

Raj period, comprising a teapot, a milk jug and a twin handled sugar bowl. The teapot of ovoid form with a curved spout opposite a handled formed as two intertwined serpents, their heads forming a bifurcated junction. The hinged domed lid surmounted by a finial formed as an exotic flower centre with calyx, all raised upon four cast and applied lion paw feet. The milk and sugar of similar form with the same handles and feet. The bodies with deep chased decoration of foliate scrolls and rosettes populated with birds. (3)
