Description
An antique Japanese two panel byobu
Ink and gouache painting of cranes by a lakeside shore. Buff parchment with highlights of sunago (gold leaf mist).
This technique is not only beautiful but created a soft reflective surface that was most engaging as light shifted throughout the course of the day and candles flickered in the course of the evening.
Wood frame with engraved bronze fittings.
Circa 1890.
