BIOGRAPHY:
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1977), People's Artist of the RSFSR (1984), entered in the Golden Book of Honor of the region (1998). Member of the Great Patriotic War. He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree, the Red Star, the Order of the Badge of Honor, medals "For Victory over
Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945", "For Victory over Japan", "20 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War", "30 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War." Born in the village of Kushur, Olovyanensky district, Chita region in 1924. Studied at the Omsk Art School named after V.A.Vrubel
(1939-1941). After the war he studied at the Irkutsk Art School (1946-1949), then at the Riga State Academy of Arts of the Latvian SSR (1949-1955).
His teachers were E.F. Kalnyn, V.I. Kozin, O.E. Skulme, A.A. Skride. Since 1955 he has been living and working in Ulyanovsk. Participant of exhibitions since 1946. His works were exhibited at many exhibitions in Moscow, Leningrad, Ufa, Cheboksary, Ukraine, at the All-Union Exhibition of the Academy of Arts
of the USSR. The artist's works are in the museums of Ulyanovsk, Belgorod, Orenburg, Saransk, Cheboksary, Irkutsk, Severobaikalsk, Cherepovets. Alexey Vasilievich Motorin is one of the organizers of the Ulyanovsk Union of Artists. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1958. He was elected
chairman of the board of the Ulyanovsk organization of the Union of Artists in 1956. He served as chairman from 1956 to 1985.
