Description
Attributed to Kentucky, 1st half 19th century, walnut. Pegged construction. Rounded corner posts ending in short tapered legs, interior with two wells and originally had a top fitted tray. Shrinkage, age cracks and some some edge wear. 16"h. 17"w. 16"d. From the Collection of Maxine and Dave Tronnes, Mitchell, South Dakota.
Condition
03-18-21 The divider is mortised in and doesn't seem to have any purposeful distressing to its edges. There is a pencil line (not a scribe mark) on the wood on either side of the divider. The escutcheon and cut out look to have appropriate age with two age splits on either side that almost meet coming from either side across the front panel. Age splits in sides and lid.
There is no lock hardware except for a screw in the underside of the lid. The cut out for the lock on the case has had black ink applied to the screw holes (no oxidation in holes or lock cut outs).
