Description
1858 1ed Statue of Joseph Warren Bunker Hill Masonic Boston American Revolution
Joseph Warren was an American doctor and mason known most for his pivotal role in the American Revolution, as the man who sent Paul Revere and William Dawes on their midnight ride on the night before the Battles of Lexington and Concord, and as a General who died at the Battle of Bunker Hill. “The Inauguration of the Statue of Warren” is a history of the details behind the memorial and of the statue itself and the celebration of its unveiling. This work includes letters from President Buchanan, Ex-Presidents Tyler and Filmer among other important political, military, and local Boston figures as well as correspondence of information on the masonic services with Masonic Hymns to honor Warren as a previous Grand-Master.
The Bunker Hill celebration was “the most splendid America pageant of the century” (Winfield Scott).
This copy belonged to one of the authors, Timothy Thompson Sawyer, who was himself a member of the Committee of Arrangements for the Bunker Hill Monument Association and served as one of it’s many directors.
