WM. MARY CHASE STRATTON, PEWABIC POTTERY VESSEL, C. 1930, H 7", DIA 9.25" A Pewabic Pottery vessel signed by William and Mary Chase Stratton (Michigan, 1867-1961). This form exemplifies William Stratton's 'whirling square', which demonstrates the validity of the Dynamic Symmetry theory that was applied to his architectural work. This form dates to 1920-1938. Ex-collection of James Keene.
Condition
Having a H 1/2" x W 7/8" loss to the foot. As viewed under UV light, a H 3/4" x 1 3/4" area to the foot fluoresces as an abrasion repair. Fractures and cracks observed to the foot. Cracks to glaze and crazing throughout exterior form. CP
