From artinfo.com: Kazimierz Wasilkowski began his painting lessons in the Warsaw Drawing Class, where he studied in the years 1880-1882 under the supervision of W. Gerson and A. Kamiński. He continued his painting studies in 1883-84 at the Krakow School of Fine Arts under W. Łuszczkiewicz and F. Cynek. At that time, he probably also used the instructions of J. Matejko. After receiving a scholarship from the Kingdom of Poland in 1884-91, he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy, where for his paintings he received three small silver medals and one grand, and a bonus for composition. From 1892 he lived in Warsaw. Hence, two years later he went on an artistic journey around Europe. At that time, he visited France, Italy and Germany. He was a member of the Warsaw Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, in whose building he regularly exhibited his works in the years 1893-1914. Moreover, he presented his paintings at the Krywult Salon in Warsaw and at Kulikowski's - in Vilnius, Lviv and St. Petersburg. In 1900, at the World Exhibition in Paris, he received a gold medal for his painting Desire. He painted mainly beautiful, graceful, sensual women on the background of decorative fabrics, in rich interiors or in nature.
