Description
17th/18th century fine antique portrait of a gentleman oil on canvas. This spectacular oil on canvas leaves no attention to detail undone. The reverse bearing a label stating. "Joseph Hewlate of Holme's Chapel Father of Katherine, Mrs. Robert Morton" as seen in one of the photographs. Mr. Hewlate was obviously a man of great wealth and importance as he is seen sitting in study. A gentleman with lace collar and brown coat, having a pirate ship on the background. This is a large and very impressive work of art in a spectacular carved gilt frame. Additions or alterations made to the original: Professionally Relined. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. Measures: 45.5" x 3" x 57"
