HENRY HINDLEY, YORK. A RARE MID 18TH CENTURY EBONISED BRACKET CLOCK the case with inverted bell top pediment above a glazed door with brass fish scale sound frets and concealed sides on ogee bracket feet enclosing a full arched 7" brass dial with gilt spandrels and silvered engraved chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals surrounding a finely matted centre with mock pendulum aperture, the lower portion having a signed arched Strike/Silent dial fronting a substantial arched plated eight-day movement with six typical 'double baluster' type pillars and a shaped steel retaining pillar at the base, reverse chain driven fusee barrel and original seconds beat escape wheel with small anchor, the pendulum suspended from a cast brass bracket mounted on the backplate via a T-bar suspension, the strike train with rack strike and repeat lever mounted on the backplate sounding the hours on a large bell with smaller bell nested underneath 53cm high
