Description
Kain Panjang, skirt cloth. This cloth is half of a double sarong called a dodot. Dodot were worn by the bride and groom in weddings in Java, and displayed in Sumatra, with other textiles, at the sites of life transition rituals. It is made of commercial Medium: cotton; hand drawn (tulis) wax resist (batik), Late 19th century. Provenance: The Roger Hollander Collection. Size: 105'' x 40'', (267 x 102 cm).
