RIAA Gold 45 "white matte" award for the Rolling Stones single "Angie" presented to then Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, and personally owned by Stones bassist Bill Wyman. The single was released on August 20, 1973 off their Goats Head Soup album and certified Gold by the RIAA on Nov. 15, 1973 for 500,000 copies sold.

One of a long string of well-known hits from the Stones' legendary career, it went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and numerous other countries and top 10 in many more.

This award was purchased at a sale personally arranged by Wyman that featured many of his instruments, awards, and other personally-owned items and mementos from his illustrious career with the Rolling Stones and beyond. Evidence that it came from this sale will be included with this item.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold LP award was made in 1973. The award is presented to Stones guitarist at the time Mick Taylor. Taylor was with the Stones from 1969-74. In addition to this spectacular presentation, the award was owned by Bill Wyman from the 1970s until 2020 when we acquired it.

This award is 47 years old and yet is in very good to excellent condition, considering its age. There are a few mars and scratches on the wood frame as is expected but the original New York Frame & Picture Co. sticker is still present. The presentation plate and gold disc are in very good condition. The glass has some minor discoloration on the inside that is visible in some lighting conditions.

These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
