RIAA Platinum Album award for the debut album from Swing Out Sister entitled It's Better To Travel. Released on July 20, 1987, the album went Gold for 500,000 copies sold on April 22, 1988.

The debut for the UK pop group featured the singles "Breakout", which went to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and #4 on the UK Singles Chart. Other singles included "Surrender", "Twilight World" and "Fooled by a Smile". The album landed at #40 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, while topping the UK Albums chart. It also brought the group Grammy award nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Group or Duo.

Detailed Item Description: This is an official RIAA Gold album award made in 1988, making it about 35 years old. It is presented to VH1.

The award is in Exellent condition with only very minor mars on frame. It is all original with Creative Glassics label.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear.
