Description
1748 1ed ROME Constantine the Great Trajan MAP of Roman Empire Universal History
The “Universal History” is a mid-18th-century history of the world. Written by numerous authors and contributors, this enormous set included more than 60 distinct volumes over the course of 20 years. Initially, the work was designed to provide Western Europe with anecdotes and histories from lesser-known cultures and parts of the world.
This rare fifteenth volume from the 1748 first edition focuses on the history of Rome, covering the reign and death of Vitellius, Vespasian and his son Emperor Domitian, through the end of the Flavian Emperors. It also discusses the Roman conquest of Britain under Agricola and Claudius, and the reign of Trajan. It also covers lesser-known emperors such as Pescennius Niger and Septimus Serverus. This volume ends with the rise of Constantine the Great and his reign.
It includes impressive, folding engravings including a map of the entire Roman Empire.
