GEORGIY YEGOR NARBUT FLOWER MIXED MEDIA ON PAPER. Size 14 in by 12 in. Narbut was a Ukrainian artist and illustrator . Author of the first Ukrainian state signs ( banknotes and postage stamps ) and the draft of the coat of arms of the Ukrainian state . Narbut’s creative style was influenced by Ivan Bilibin who took an active part in his early life. Bakst and Dobuzhinsky were also Narbut’s mentors; on the advice of the latter, he studied graphics for three months at the Munich studio of S. Holloshi. Returning in the autumn of 1910 to St. Petersburg, he became a member of the art association "World of Art", and six years later he was elected to the committee of this association. Since 1917 he worked in Kiev, rector and one of the founders of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts .
