Africa, Ghana, Ashanti (Asante), ca. 20th C. A unique brass bracelet displaying an open band adorned with three grasshoppers and a spiralized bell. Skillfully formed in a naturalistic design, two of the grasshoppers face towards one end of the bracelet; then after the coiled bell, the last grasshopper faces in the opposite direction. A fascinating piece of jewelry, replete with impressive artistry and technique! Size: 3.2" W x 2.9" H (8.1 cm x 7.4 cm); (wrist opening): 0.8" W (2 cm)

Condition
Minor abrasions to shank and attached elements, otherwise intact and very good. Lustrous patina throughout. Rattle ball in bell still makes a jingling sound when jostled.
