Description
ANDY WARHOL (American 1928-1987) A PHOTOGRAPH, SIGNED, "Toilet with Tesserae," 1975-1981, silver gelatin on photo paper, photograph taken by the artist, signed verso in pencil, "Andy Warhol," and with the artist's blind stamp L/R. 8" x 10" Note: "My favorite is the one with the paper band on. Before you can use the toilet, you have to break the paper. I like that if they do that. That's my favorite kind of a hotel.," a quotation from Andy Warhol, an interview by Gerard Malanga, an excerpt from Scopophilia: The Love of Looking, Alfred Van Der Marck Editions, New York, 1985. Andy Warhol divulges personal details during the interview, "When I know I have to go to the men's room, I always leave the party." The discussion seems to be an evolution of Dada themes; the artist discusses learning to use camera equipment and his journey to capture clearer images. Provenance: Collection of Kasey Rhodes, Houston, Texas.
