Description
GENOCCHI Angelo. Torino, Bocca, 1884
In-8vo, mm. 240x160; Brochure editoriale, dorso rinforzato; pp. XXXII, 336, [2]. Timbro di biblioteca estinta al frontespizio. Alcune fioriture, buon esemplare.
Rara prima edizione. Kennedy: “This book is something of a curiosity in the history of mathematics, since the title page gives the author as Genocchi, not Peano … the title page states that it is “published with additions by Dr. Giuseppe Peano … Peano also included a new definition of the definite integral, using least upper bounds and greatest lower bounds of certain sums.” Encyclopædia Britannica: “[one of] the most important works on the development of the general theory of functions since the work of the French mathematician Augustin-Louis Cauchy”.
