Description
Meissen German paint decorated porcelain model of a cockatoo, after a model by Johann Friedrich Eberlein (German 1695-1749) and in the manner of Johann Joachim Kändler (German, 1706–1775), the bird modeled intently perched on a tree trunk within a naturalistic landscape, base with blue underglaze crossed swords mark and with further numeric marks. 10.25" H x 7.5" diameter. Note: Similar example is in the Collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York(1976.155.124).
