IVORY COAST, AFRICAN, CARVED WOOD STANDING FEMALE FIGURE WITH YOUNG FIGURE SEATED H 17.25" W 6.5" D 6.5" With three smaller figures on the sides of the seated figure and woman standing, featuring a darker stain. Eyes with touch of polychrome and hollowed at pupils. Entire composition carved from single block of wood in naturalistic manner. Circa 1880. Provenance: Estate of Jack Faxon, Birmingham, MI. Michigan Senator and creator of the Michigan Council for the Arts.

some wear to the base, consistent with age. No broken or missing elements. jw
