1st edition book (1821), bound with the 1824 supplement, containing an account of the subjects of Natural History.
Search of a North West Passage aboard his Majesty's ships Hecla and Griper.
The immediate achievements of these voyages were the charting of miles of coastline in the Canadian Arctic archipelago and collecting valuable data on Arctic natural history.
Twenty plates including six maps with four folding, including the General Polar Chart frontispiece.
Six engraved maps and charts (4 folding), and 14 plates (9 lithographed and 5 engraved) with many figures and tables in text (one folding).
Supplement contains 6 plates at end.

Half-leather cover with marble boards.
Dimensions: 11 in. x 9 in.
Condition: good original estate condition, intermittent foxing, firmly bound, externally sound, though rubbed, all maps are intact.
