By: Jean Alexandre BuchonDate: 1825 (published) ParisDimensions: 16.75 x 21 inches (42.5 x 53.5 cm)This is an authentic antique map of the United States with portions of Mexico and Canada, by Jean Alexandre Buchon. The map is from the French edition of Carey & Lea's American Atlas and was published in Paris in the year 1825.This is an interesting map of the United States during an intense period of westward expansion. The map includes the territories of Arkansas, Michigan, and Northwest (Wisconsin & Minnesota), and extends just west of the Rockies to include the vast Oregon Territory as well as Mexico, which at the time included Texas and extended as far north as the 40th parallel. An impressive amount of detail is shown with regard to the reaches of the Missouri River as thousands of pioneers, fur trappers, and traders were flooding the region. Numerous Native American villages are noted throughout the map, with the vast majority located west of the Mississippi.Condition: Map is in A condition, with full margins, bright color, and a nice impression of heavy paper.
