Herding sheep at sunset.
Signed lower right "E.I. Couse". While primarily associated with his iconic portraits of Native Americans, Eanger Irving Couse spent his early years in France, where he studied under Adolphe Bouguereau and Robert Fleury at the Academie Julian. Over that time he painted many bucolic scenes of the French countryside.
