Description
Erte (Romain de Tirtoff) (Russian-French, 1892-1990). Signed Limited Edition bronze sculpture pair. Titled, "Hera," inspired by the ancient Greek goddess of women, marriage, family and childbirth, one of the Twelve Olympians and the sister and wife of Zeus. In Hellenistic imagery, Hera's chariot was pulled by peacocks. Produced during Erte's lifetime. Signed ERTE and impressed to rear (C) 1989 SEVENARTS LTD. LONDON 398/500 with additional foundry stamp. Missing original staff ornament for left hand. Good overall condition, with normal wear. Measures approximately 16 in. x 10 in. x 7 in.
