Europe, probably the Netherlands, early 20th century CE. Signed M. Schouten at upper left. A lovely oil on canvas painting likely modeled on an Utrillo composition depicting a canal leading to a Romanesque cathedral with tree-lined streets to either side of the canal, wonderful reflections in the shimmering waters, and dreamy blue skies above. A beautiful landscape drawing upon a deep tradition of Dutch pride in depicting their homeland. Size: 12.75" L x 9.75" W (32.4 cm x 24.8 cm); 15.75" L x 12.75" W (40 cm x 32.4 cm) framed
