Description
2 Cecil Beaton Vintage Photos of Oscar Wilde's Lady Windermere's Fan; the first a matte gelatin silver print of John Buckmaster (1915-1983) son of Gladys Cooper, as Lord Darlington in the 1946 Broadway success with Cecil Beaton's costumes, sets and lighting. Beaton also took these official production photos in his unmistakable style; the second a gelatin silver print of the Broadway production in 1947 that allowed Cecil to appear on stage in an invented part named "Cecil Graham", or possibly in the later tour after Broadway; with Cornelia Otis Skinner, and Rex Evans surrounded by Estelle Winwood, Penelope Dudley Ward, Buckmaster, and Robert Lindin. Each with "Beaton" hand stamp in his handwriting from his Studio Disbursements at Sotheby's. Each approximately 8 inches square (20.5 cm. square).
