Description
Commonly known as a Pinahig by the Ifugao group of the Northern Luzon, this is a native made sword and sheath set with braided rattan at the grip area and the ferrule is black iron. Typical wood scabbard open on one side with a cross over piece near the middle where a strap of braided vine/reed is attached as well as a textile belt embellished with shells.Bontoc / Ifugao area of Northern Cordellerias, Luzon. The Bolo or machete measures 15 inches long in its sheath. This Knife was collected in situ in the mid 20th century and was part of the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Oddities, Metamora, Indiana.
Condition
Fair, well weathered, but is un attached at one end.
