BIOGRAPHY:
Hungarian artist Ritta Boemm was the daughter of the Hungarian painter, Tivadar Boemm (1822-1899). In the late 1880s her father took her to Dresden where she has undertook her formal studies at the Academy of Dresden - later she also studied in Paris where she became drawn to pointillism. Ritta Boemm began exhibiting paintings of mostly Hungarian subjects in Dresden in 1892. In 1898 she moved back to Budapest and became a regular exhibitor at the “ Paris Salon of Budapest” - the Mucsarnok. She also painted portraits, altar-paintings, still lives, nudes and later became well known for well arranged interiors of middle class comfort. Several of her works are in the collection of the Hungarian National Gallery.
