Frame: 21.5" x 25.5"
Davids notes: Estelle Goodman(American 20th century), exhibited in the National Arts and Antiques Show held in the 67th Street Armory in Oct of 1970.Attended Barnard College, and was a member of the Artist Craftsman Guild. She had a retrospective show at the Elaine Kaufmann Cultural Center in 1993,New York City. We were able to find one auction record for a bronze sculpture by Estelle Goodman, in 2003 Doyle auctions in NYC, offered Possessed by Love, a 24 inch bronze sculpture by Estelle Goodman from the Estate of James Robinson, which sold for 1,553.00 against an estimate of 600-900(Wed Oct 8th, 2003, lot 115).After her death, most of her painting and sculptures were auctioned by the Benefit Shop, in Mount Kisco NY.As an artist, Goodman is an original. Her haunting paintings of apparitions, ghosts and disembodied faces, recall the works of James Ensor, the Belgian artist of the late 19th century, as well as the strange universe works of Louise Nevelson and Miro.
