Description

Fourth-quarter 19th Century
Each with a glazed ceramic rearing lion posed with a stylized shield element on an oval base featuring chintz-style patterning and floral medallions which transition into a gilt-bronze scrolling foliate column issuing three candle arms with figural face motifs terminating in glazed ceramic capitals, 2 pieces
18" H x 10.75" W x 4.25" D

Condition

Overall good condition with tarnish, dust accumulation, and wear commensurate with age. Issues include, but are not limited to: one featuring a repair to the lion's arms and join to upper node of shield, repairs to lion's feet, one missing lion's fang, chipping to ceramic under base, and loosening of bronze elements; one featuring repair to lion's arm with possible recracking occuring, evidence of possible repair to lion's body. Restorations inconsistent in glazing.
