ARTIST BIO
Fascinated by drawing since childhood, his beginnings in graffiti go back to 1995, when at the age of 14 he discovered in this art the vehicle of ideal expression to channel his concerns. So begins a long artistic pilgrimage of more than a decade that has evolved progressively towards an increasingly refined and meticulous technique.
A Versatile artist, he has tried to combine dynamism and spontaneity typical of graffiti with a more artisanal work to achieve full works of freshness. In his beginnings as an urban writer he experimented with three-dimensionality, playing with the volumes of the pieces through perspectives and different color ranges. It endows its pieces with fine lines, bright colors and sharp shapes.
His experience in urban muralism comes from the hand of the artistic group Coma 7, founded in 1998 with six members. Since then it has made many compositions with different artists in a long journey through different countries of the world. In 2008 he started to form part of the prestigious international artistic group OGT. In his works he combines graffiti with various tools such as airbrushes, pistols, brushes or rollers. Artistic exploration is the key to its evolution; far from curled into concrete artistic labels each new project is a break and a new learning. Works made exclusively with a ballpoint pen on paper (Boligraff), use of mixed techniques and fire on wood (More wood, Souls ..) or ephemeral illustrations made with dying, laser fading laser pointers while they are being created (Lumen) are just some examples of the diversity that encompasses the work of Sfhir.
In a continuous search for perfection, he has experimented with a multitude of techniques, chiseling every detail in a laborious, almost obsessive way, to achieve the more crude hyperrealism. Dissect reality and shape it in a way graphic, overwhelming, through an acid filter and sometimes bleeding. Themes as varied as nature, the human being or iconography are all common elements in his works; disturbing realities. A phrase written on a New York train left him marked forever...
