Description
Taino. Scarce Macrois Head. Defined by tabular erect skull modification, skull like persona, and narrow canoe shaped pedestal base. Face is notably 3 dimensional. Named after the area of the Dominican Republic where they were first found. Another unique form of ritual art only carved by Taino sculptors. Base is incurvate, pecked and polished. Made from a heavy granitic stone. Provenance: ex- Collection of Larry Roberts, author of "Taino Sculpture Art of the Gods" and "Taino Hallucinogenic Implements, Inhaling the Cosmic Dust."
