Taino Large Stone Cemi/Stamp. Magnetite. This fully engraved Cemi depicts a bird, head resting in wings that cover front and sides that are slightly embossed. Elaborate symbolic display of swirls and lines. A second bird appears in subjects beak. The base has 2 modified interfacing bird heads, symbols for wind and rain. The top of the head has 2 mushroom like symbols. Made of magnetite having a strong magnetic field. Very heavy. Provenance: ex- Collection of Larry Roberts, author of "Taino Sculpture Art of the Gods" and "Taino Hallucinogenic Implements, Inhaling the Cosmic Dust." Size: 6.7'', 17 cm (length).
