***Auction Highlight*** 1857-p Gold Liberty Eagle $10 Graded Unc Details By USCG. In absolute terms, the 1857 has only a handful of Uncirculated pieces surviving. The total Mint State population is only eight such coins. The present example displays luminous yellow-gold luster with only minor field chatter to limit the grade. Stars 1 and 2 are soft, but the central devices show a sharp strike. Some hairlines limit the grade to details. Eye appeal is excellent for the grade, and the rarity of this piece as a Mint State coin gives it tremendous appeal. I have included an ms60 example for comparison purposes.
