***Auction Highlight*** 1859-p Gold Liberty Eagle $10 Graded ms61 Details By SEGS. Highlight of the Night - Up for Auction is an Uncirculated example of a coin that David Akers is quoted as saying “The 1859 is a very rare date in all grades and is comparable overall to the 1857. The typical 1859 is VF or EF, well struck, with proof like or partially proof like surfaces. A few AU pieces are known but I am aware of only one uncirculated piece, an average quality specimen.” Now mind you that was some20 or so years ago and since then about 5 more uncirculated coins have surfaced, one literally aboard the SS republic. The coin at hand has hairlines and must be given the details grade, it is also abraded To Some degree, but no more than the other ms61 examples. As far as wear, there is no actual wear. I am including the pictures of 4 au58s, so you can see the distinct elements of wear on the issue, as well as the ms61 that sold last week for $21,600. But for the hairlines, the coin is a mirror of our coin. Please Look! Hairlines or not, this is one of less than 10 surviving uncirculated examples to exist in the world! A win under $10,000 would be a heroic accomplishment, I think after the results of the auction on the 24th, 12,000-14,000k is a good estimate!
