George III fiddleback writing table, circa 1765, the square rectangular top with a gilt-tooled tan leather writing surface above a mahogany-lined frieze drawer with chequered stringing, with simulated drawer to the reverse, on foliate-headed cabriole legs carved with husks and terminating in scrolled feet, on leather casters. Provenance: Anonymous sale, Sotheby's, London, 5 July 1996, lot 69; Christie's, London "The English Collector" sale, May 21, 2015, lot 38. Sold for 20,000 pounds (hammer price). 28" H x 22 1/2" W x 25 1/2" D].
